From watercolor painting and pickleball to poetry workshops and unexpected new interests, there are countless ways to stay active, creative, and connected through lifelong learning and social engagement. Apex Senior Center
BIRDING 101
Grab your walking shoes and join Wake Audubon bird expert Larry Zoller for a guided birdwatching adventure along the trails of Apex Community Park. Stroll around Lake Pine while learning how to spot and identify the many bird species that call the area home.
CAROLINA SUNSHINE ALPACA FARM VISIT
Enjoy a 60-minute outdoor gentle yoga session followed by an opportunity to explore the grounds on a self-guided tour. Interact with the friendly alpacas and share a picnic lunch.
MEET AND MINGLE SPEED FRIENDING
This relaxed event offers a great way to expand your social circle. Through a series of brief, guided conversations, attendees rotate every few minutes, giving them the chance to connect with one another, build personal connections, and perhaps even spark a few new friendships.
THE PEAK CITY SINGERS
More than just a choir, this group gives older adults the joy of singing alongside the camaraderie of a musical family. The singers perform throughout the community at nursing homes, retirement facilities, and other local venues. New members are always welcome, and fees include four months of participation and music.

Discover professional skin care and makeup application methods during a morning workshop with make-up artist Kathy Marton. These sessions focus on addressing the unique requirements of maturing skin and will leave you feeling refreshed and confident.
SENIORS ON THE GO
Relax and enjoy the journey while the Cary Senior Center handles all the planning. Staying current with the rapidly evolving world of technology can present challenges for older adults. This stress-free class is ideal for current owners wanting to get more out of their Apple Watch, and those still deciding if the device is right for them. Learn basic features and practical tips, including medical advances of the latest version which include a one-lead EKG and fall detection.

FITLOT
Don’t let your eyes fool you. While at first glance the FitLot park on the Seymour Senior Center grounds might resemble a playground, it’s actually a state-of-the-art outdoor fitness station designed for adults. FitLot’s ergonomic, fully shaded design focuses on the three essential pillars of wellness—cardiovascular endurance, strength training, and flexibility. User enthusiasm suggests that having fun might just be the fourth.
SEYMOUR SPELLING BEE
Whether you’re a super-spelling contestant or a spectator cheering from the sidelines, you’ll enjoy the excitement of the Seymour Center’s Spelling Bee, where skills are tested as rounds become increasingly challenging.
THE TRAVEL TRIBE AT THE PASSMORE CENTER
Ready for a grand adventure? This group arranges amazing excursions to both domestic and international destinations. Embark on a cruise to Alaska’s majestic glaciers or take in the breathtaking Northern Lights in Iceland. Meetings are held throughout the year to discuss forthcoming travel opportunities, exchange tips, and enjoy the company of others with a shared passion for travel.
TRIANGLE COLLECTORS CLUB
This club is for collectors who enjoy sharing their treasures and learning about others’ collections. Members meet on the first Monday of each month and take turns showcasing favorite pieces and sharing the stories behind them. It’s a welcoming space to connect, exchange ideas, and discover new inspiration.

Durham Center for Senior Life
DURHAM SENIOR GAMES & SILVERARTS
Held each spring for adults aged 50 and older as part of the statewide North Carolina Senior Games, the event offers Olympic-style competition in athletics and the creative arts. Activities include track and field, pickleball, swimming, golf, and the popular cheerleading showcase, along with SilverArts competitions in visual, performing, literary, and heritage arts. The event encourages older adults to stay active while offering participants the chance to qualify for regional and state-level competitions.
MINI-ROBOT GAMES
Kids can’t have all the fun. Join Durham County Library staff for a variety of games using tiny robots. Guide your robot through an obstacle course, use them on the miniature bowling lane and more. No robotics experience is required.
PAINTING WITH POLICE
This well-received program gives local seniors the opportunity to interact and build relationships with dedicated officers of the Durham Police Department in a relaxed setting. Participants receive professional instruction to create themed works on canvas, fostering meaningful connections through a shared creative process.
Raleigh Parks and Recreation
READ AND GO
This is no ordinary book club. Participants read and discuss books set in or written by North Carolina authors, then take trips inspired by the stories. Authors often join discussions, help plan trips, or even travel with the group.
SOCIAL OUTDOOR ACTIVE RECREATION (SOAR)
An adventurous spirit and a willingness to try something new are all that’s required to join SOAR, a group for adults 50 and over offering exciting, adventure-filled trips. Enjoy activities like hiking the 2.2-mile Occoneechee Mountain Loop or Paddle and Play on Raleigh’s scenic lakes with kayaking and paddleboarding. Multi-day trips offer opportunities to explore scenic destinations, experience culture and history, and make lasting memories, with roommate assistance available if needed.

An annual membership at OLLI unlocks access to a remarkably diverse range of educational adventures and intellectual pursuits.
